Steven Adler’s Appetite for Destruction

It seems that every rock star comes from the same mold. Born into a dysfunctional family, moving out of their house (or thrown out) at fourteen, living off people's couches, their teens, taking a bus to Hollywood with a big dream stuffed inside a suitcase and finally becoming an instant hits when the drugs and booze are given and girls are throwing themselves at you.

DJ Ashba joins Guns n’ Roses

The hardest working guitarist/writer/producer/entrepreneur in rock, DJ Ashba has linked up with Axl Rose, landing a spot as Guns n’ Roses’ lead guitarist on the band’s upcoming tour. Replacing Robin Finck (who was one of the many guitarists to play lead on GNR’s latest album, Chinese Democracy), Ashba received nothing but the highest level of […]

Guns N’ Roses – “Chinese Democracy”

Chinese Democracy's opening title track could be a metaphor for the album itself. The song's intro builds tension with nothing but faint shrieks and vocal rumblings that come from the other side of the world -- a solitary world populated by Axl and his vision. The music comes in dribs and drabs, slow and creeping before the bass drum kicks in and sharp riffs cut the air, joined by Axl's signature yowl. The song's refrain, "All I've got is precious time", is a telling admission of Rose's recalcitrant attitude towards putting this album out in a timely fashion.

Sounds Off: Remembering the grunge years: 1991-1994

Where were you in 1993? Do you remember the first time you heard “Smells Like Teen Spirit?” I remember that I was at my guitar teacher’s home, strumming the guitar as I did a couple times per week.

HOLLYWOOD - Just when we thought KISS took off their makeup and said goodbye to their fans on their farewell tour, KISS and Make-Up, the autobiography of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, will hit stores on Dec. 11. "It's the weirdest thing in the world," Simmons told Rolling Stone of the anthology process. "Because when you're moving ahead in life and you take snapshots of where you've been and then someone turns around and says, 'Take the last thirty years and pick six hours of highlights,' the hardest thing is how to figure out what to put in and not what to leave out."
