ORLANDO, Fla., Sept.13, 2001 - If you're a child of the 80s and you are into rock band T-shirts, dirty jeans, and mullets--yes, mullets--the Boston-based rockers American Hi-Fi will guarantee you the ride of a lifetime. I must have been around five years old when my mother first played Michael Jackson's Thriller at home. It happened one afternoon after I got home from school, and my mom was very eager to get home and play the vinyl record she had just purchased. She rushed to the living room, ripped the plastic wrap off of the record, and began playing the album on our old turntable.

BOCA RATON, FL -- They say everything is bigger in Texas, and the Dallas-based band Flickerstick is well on their way to proving them right. Now that the band has been declared the winner of VH1's Bands on the Run, they plan to be bigger than ever. Sunday's season finale is the culmination of a series of episodes taped in November and December of last year that featured unsigned bands that dreamed of making it big. Flickerstick was one of them. Sure they drank, fought, and slept with women. But at the end of the series, the band's charisma and love of rock and roll kept them on the show.

KEY WEST, Fla., June 7, 2001 --They've already caused a sensation overseas, and now the British trio BBMak is "Back Here" in America with their pitch-perfect harmonies and beautiful pop and love songs. We had the chance to talk to guitarist Ste McNally while he was in South Florida taping a television show. McNally was quite charming to talk to--and giggle with--as he tried to talk through a series of hiccups (we've omitted most of those here). He also had one of the sweetest voices I've ever heard.

MIAMI BEACH, FL -- There was a lot of territory to cover--musically and geographically--at Thursday's eighth annual Billboard Latin Music Awards. Stars from Puerto Rico, Colombia and Mexico united in the melting pot of Miami-Dade County--considered the Latin music capital of the world by many--to celebrate the best in Latin pop, dance, rock, salsa and jazz. "Most of our fans are Latin American. They are the ones who keep me alive as an artist," said singer Lupillo Rivera, who performed during the awards ceremony at the Jackie Gleason Theater on South Beach.
