No matter of many shenanigans Britney Spears gets into, this may be one of the most exciting news I have heard all week: Spears plans to make her first international tour in 2009, five years since her last tour in 2004.

No matter of many shenanigans Britney Spears gets into, this may be one of the most exciting news I have heard all week: Spears plans to make her first international tour in 2009, five years since her last tour in 2004.

Some of you may ask how I could be so excited over this? Ever since college, this young Mouseketeer has won my heart over. From dressing up like her for one Halloween night in college, to memorizing all her dance steps to “I’m A Slave 4 U,” I have problably been one of the most dedicated Spears fans, and the mockery of so many of my “grown-up” friends.

Just this week, Spears told New York radio station Z100, Spears was asked if she planned to tour. Her answer? “Oh definitely, next year.”

I think I squeeled like the little teeny bopper that I am. I remember when I saw Spears perform on her Onyx Hotel Tour in 2004 and was highly entertained. I may have agreed with my ex-boyfriend at the time. She was not that great of a live singer, but boy can that girl dance! I will definitely go again, with my dancing shoes on!

After more than a year of making headlines for shaving her head, attacking paparazzi with an umbrella and two admissions to psychiatric hospital units, Spears, is preparing for a comeback.

Spears’ latest single, “Womanizer,” was released on Friday and is the first single off Circus, which will be released on December 2. She told Z100 she spent six months working on the album.

Before her life spiraled out of control, Spears was an international pop phenomenon and one of the most commercially successful recording artists of the last decade with sales of more than 62 million albums.

HOLLYWOOD, CA - It has at least been three years since I can remember rumors about the Motley Crue autobiography The Dirt being transformed into a movie. To this day, I tell anyone intersted in rock and roll books that The Dirt is the “rock and roll” Bible of any book you will ever read. I am not exagerating, I tell this to anyone in Borders, to friends who ask book recommendations, and the list goes on and on.

Maybe a year passed since the release of the book and I was lucky enough to get a copy of the script, which had leaked from one of the entertainment films that was involved in the project. Much like the book, I devoured the script in one solid day. I thought the script was incredibly weak and lacking of descriptions and mistique. It was pretty bland, as I sat there hoping that this would be a very initial rough draft.

But since then I have seen no scripts, no re-writes, and the talks about the movie had all but subsided. Almost as if the fans had given up on something that sounded too good to be true.

Today, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, has revealed to China Daily that he hopes Oscar-nominated Depp would be the perfect choice to play him in the film.

“Johnny Depp would be my choice to play me. He’’s the best ever,” Tommy Lee said.

Lee also stated that he is presently in talks with movie producers to begin the shooting of the film based on his band Montley Crue.

“We’re working on it. Trying to find the right producers and director and all that sort of stuff!” Lee said.

Okay Tommy, you better hurry up!! Motley fans have been waiting so long that I think most of them have lost their hopes by now. Is it really that hard to find a producer who would want to shoot a movie about this band? With a band of this stature, how hard can it really be?

The Dirt…coming to a theatre near you…..I can almost see it!

Residents and officials in Highland Park, Mich., protested Eminem’s plans to burn down a house during the filming of his untitled movie. About 50 residents protested the fire during an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the issue; however, no final decision was made. Highland Park’s emergency financial manager, Ramona Henderson, will have the final say on whether the house will burn, The Detroit Free Press reports. Eminem’s movie will be released next summer.

Creed “weathers” their way to the top, plans new tour

Creed’s third album, Weathered, soared the top of The Billboard 200 chart this week, after selling a whooping 887,000 units in the U.S., according to SoundScan. That’s 142,000 more albums than Britney Spears’ Britney sold when it released two weeks ago. This marks Creed’s best week on the chart, blowing away the 316,000 first-week units the band’s Human Clay album sold in October 1999.

In related news, Creed will begin a year of heavy touring Jan. 14 at the Lakeland Civic Center in Florida in support of their new album, Billboard reports. The band will hit 19 U.S. arenas through Feb. 17 and head to Australia in March. Creed will play more U.S. shows in April, play throughout Europe in May and June, and finish up the tour in the U.S. from July through November 2002.

The Doors are out to lunch

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to meet someone who knew The Doors’ vocalist, Jim Morrison, intimately? Now you can. Rhino Entertainment is auctioning off a lunch with Doors’ keyboard player Ray Manzarek, longtime Doors manager Danny Sugerman and producer Bruce Botnick. This exclusive gathering, to take place at Benvenuto Café in Los Angeles–The Doors Office until 1972–is being auctioned off on ebay Dec. 4 through Dec. 14,Virgin.com reports. The celebrates the release of The Very Best of the Doors, a collection of the group’s most popular recordings. All proceeds from the winning bid will benefit the Musicians Assistance Program, a nonprofit organization.

Everclear’s Alexakis to record solo album

Everclear’s frontman, Art Alexakis, is planning to begin work early next year on a solo album for Capitol Records. “I’m not defined by Everclear,” he told Billboard. “There are things I want to do, even if the music isn’t worlds away. This can be just my thing; it’s not a committee.” In 1997, Alexakis toured small venues in the U.S. as a solo artist, playing songs from the unreleased Everclear album, Something for the Afterglow, the Art Alexakis Fan Club reports. In addition, Alexakis has contributed a solo song to the soundtrack of the 1998 Ben Stiller starrer Permanent Midnight.

Alicia Keys tops 2001 Billboard Music Awards nominations

R&B Newcomer Alicia Keys leads the nominees for this year’s Billboard Music Awards in eight categories, including female artist of the year, new artist of the year, and R&B/hip hop album of the year for her album Songs in A Minor, Billboard reports. The awards, to be presented live on Dec. 4 on Fox from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, will include performances by No Doubt, Destiny’s Child and Incubus.

HOLLYWOOD - Just when we thought KISS took off their makeup and said goodbye to their fans on their farewell tour, KISS and Make-Up, the autobiography of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, will hit stores on Dec. 11.

"It's the weirdest thing in the world," Simmons told Rolling Stone of the anthology process. "Because when you're moving ahead in life and you take snapshots of where you've been and then someone turns around and says, 'Take the last thirty years and pick six hours of highlights,' the hardest thing is how to figure out what to put in and not what to leave out."

HOLLYWOOD - Just when we thought KISS took off their makeup and said goodbye to their fans on their farewell tour, KISS and Make-Up, the autobiography of KISS bassist Gene Simmons, will hit stores on Dec. 11.

“It’s the weirdest thing in the world,” Simmons told Rolling Stone of the anthology process. “Because when you’re moving ahead in life and you take snapshots of where you’ve been and then someone turns around and says, ‘Take the last thirty years and pick six hours of highlights,’ the hardest thing is how to figure out what to put in and not what to leave out.”

The book begins with Simmons’ birth in Israel and details his emigration to America with his mother, as well as his former relationships with Cher, Diana Ross, and current wife, Shannon Tweed. The book will also talk about the formation of KISS and give details of the band’s 30-year career.

KISS plans to plug their upcoming release KISS: The Box Set with an in-store appearance at Tower Records from 7 to 9 p.m on Nov. 20 in Hollywood, where guitarist Paul Stanley and Simmons will greet and give autographs to fans. Simmons will also host the Court TV documentary The Secret of Rock ‘n’ Roll on Dec. 4.

Fleetwood Mac: in the studio without McVie

Fleetwood Mac is back in the studio recording its first album since their tremendous 1997 comeback The Dance. But it wouldn’t be Fleetwood Mac without some kind of catch–they’ll be without singer/keyboardist Christine McVie, who has retired from the group, Reuters reports. She currently lives in an English castle and prefers to indulge in her passion for cooking. “We’re happily a four-piece and are creatively, artistically, handling a new chapter of Fleetwood Mac without Christine, and it’s going extremely well,” co-founder and drummer Mick Fleetwood told Reuters. The band hopes to tour the U.S. next summer.

New York street corner may be renamed ‘Joey Ramone Way’

Six months after punk rocker Joey Ramone died from lymphatic cancer, Manhattan’s Lower East Side residents are anxiously waiting for the city’s Community Board 3 to approve a proposal to change one of their street names after the former Ramones’ front man. Residents have asked to change the corner of East Second Street and Bowery in Manhattan to Joey Ramone Way, Rolling Stone magazine reports. The board will review the proposal at their next meeting on Nov. 15. “I think he’s very important as an example of people who come from the East Village, but he’s a New Yorker — lived there, prospered and developed,” CBGB’s club owner, Hilly Kristal, told the magazine. “I think he would have been kind of embarrassingly pleased.”

Guns N’ Roses cancels European tour again

European fans will be upset to know that Guns ‘N Roses have canceled their European tour for the second time this year. According to SonicNet.com, a press release by their manager, Doug Goldstein, reported that the group’s 14-city tour in June has been put off until December because guitarist Buckethead has internal hemorrhaging in the stomach. The band also claims to want to finish recording their new album, Chinese Democracy. “Following the euphoria of Rock in Rio, I jumped the gun and arranged an European tour as our plan was to have the new album out this year,” Goldstein said on a statement. “I am sorry to disappoint fans, but I can assure them that this is not what Axl [Rose] wanted. I made a plan, and unfortunately it did not work out.” Goldstein also added that Rose has spent “every waking minute of every day during the last five years writing, recording and producing the record.” If the new album ever comes out, it will be G N’ R’s first original material since 1991.

Ozzy breaks a leg, cancels shows

For years he’s called himself a “madman” and acted the part onstage, but age might be starting to catch up with hard-living heavy metal pioneer Ozzy Osbourne. The rocker broke his leg last week when he slipped in the shower before a show in Tucson, Ariz. According to his official Web site, www.ozzy.com, he still performed despite the broken leg for a few dates until his doctor ordered him to rest at home. As a result, 10 dates of his Merry Mayhem tour, with opening act Rob Zombie, have been canceled. The tour will resume on Nov. 29 in Grand Fork, N.D., and end Dec. 29 in San Diego. There is no word yet when the missed dates might be rescheduled.

Jagger to play small party in Los Angeles

Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger performed Nov. 15 at a small party at Los Angeles’s El Rey Theatre to celebrate the release of his new solo album Goddess in the Doorway. Jagger performed his upcoming single, “God Gave Me Everything,” which he co-wrote with rocker Lenny Kravitz. The performance was taped for ABC’s Nov. 22 broadcast, Being Mick, a one-hour documentary directed by Kevin Macdonald. Jagger’s latest solo album will hit stores on Nov. 20.

Cure’s Robert Smith to release first solo album

Although Robert Smith has been busy promoting the Cure’s Greatest Hits album, which went on sale Nov. 13, he hopes to begin recording his first solo album in January or February. “I was just at the point of coordinating it all earlier this year when the Greatest Hits project was suggested, and I went along with it,” Smith told SonicNet.com. “And so that took the Cure back into the studio to do all the new songs and the acoustic stuff. And that’s followed by promotion, so I had to shelve my album again for another few months.” In addition, Smith said that he started coming up for ideas after finishing the Cure’s last studio album, Bloodflowers, in 2000. The Cure will also release a Greatest Hits home video on Nov. 27.

Third Eye Blind to headline Los Angeles’ free clinic show

Third Eye Blind will headline the third of three benefit concerts for the Silver Lining Silver Lake project benefiting a Los Angeles free health clinic, Launch.com reports. The show, to be held on Nov. 15 at the Hollywood Palladium, will also include Jaguares, Becky, and appearances by Benicio Del Toro and Lucy Liu. The other two concerts will take place on Nov. 13 and 14 at the same venue, and will include performances by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Elton John and Sting. Among the hosts present at the event will be Robert Downey Jr., Christina Ricci, Tony Hawk, and Adam Carolla.

Tickets for the first two nights are currently on sale for $250, $500 and $1000 through Ticketmaster. Tickets for the Nov. 15 show will go on sale on Nov. 17 for $100 a piece. All proceeds will benefit the Hollywood-Sunset Free Clinic, which has offered health care for Los Angeles residents since 1968 and has recently lost its civic funding.

HOLLYWOOD - Kid Rock is tired of the rumors about his relationship with Pamela Anderson, who he’s been dating since they met at the VH1 Divas 2001 tribute to Aretha Franklin in New York City this past spring. The latest rumors going around allege that the couple is engaged and that Anderson is pregnant with Kid Rock’s kid. According to Launch.com, reps at Lava/Atlantic Records, Kid Rock’s label, have denied those rumors.

“You know what? I’m not even gonna comment on any of that stuff anymore,” Kid Rock told the online music publication. “It’s just ridiculous…I’ll tell you this much: There’s not…people that make up a lot of things, and I have no idea where they start at. And I understand my life is public and people have a right to know, but until I say something I don’t think anyone has a right to pry. That’s why I live in the woods.” Well Kid, maybe if you stopped rubbing against Pamela and talking about your bedroom behavior in public, like you did at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, people wouldn’t think you were doing that in the woods. Keep it indoors, buddy!

Warner Bros. will release the DVD/VHS, which will include the event in its entirety, including words of inspiration from Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, among others.

Nickelback donates to N.Y. Firefighter Fund

Rock group Nickelback has set up a collection for the New York City Firefighter Sept. 11 Disaster Relief Fund at its shows, Launch.com reported. The band started collections at the Boise, Idaho show on Nov. 11 and will continue to do so at all their shows until Nov. 30. At that time they will hand the proceeds to the firefighters during the band’s show at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. “That feels good for sure, because people need it,” Nickelback’s singer/ songwriter Chad Kroeger told Launch.com. “We’ve been feeling that ever since the attack. We’ve been playing shows where the crowd’s responses have been just fantastic.” Nickelback’s tour will end Dec. 12 in Philadelphia.

The ruling stated that there was insufficient proof that the band’s music influenced teenagers Jacob Delashmutt, Joseph Fiorella, and Royce Casey to rape and murder Elyse Pahler on July 22.
Tyler falls ill, but plans to extend tour

After embarking on their Just Push Play tour in June and playing at Washington D.C.’s United We Stand–What More Can I Give benefit concert on Oct. 21, Aerosmith has been touring pretty much nonstop. Excessive touring is what may have caused front man Steven Tyler to suffer from a temporary breakdown last weekend that forced the band to scrap two shows from their tour. According to SonicNet.com, shows in Pittsburgh at the Mellon Arena on Saturday and one at the Air Canada Centre on Monday were canceled. No word yet as to when the shows will be rescheduled in the future. Although their Just Push Play tour doesn’t end until Dec. 17, the band’s publicist told SonicNet.com that the band is hoping to extend the tour through the end of January.

Billy Corgan returns with “Zwan”

After playing a tearful final show at Chicago’s Metro theatre last Dec. 2, the former vocalist for the Chicago-based rock group, Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan, will return to the music business with a new band, Zwan. According to Reuters, Zwan will reunite Corgan with former Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, former Chavez’ singer/guitarist Mathew Sweeney and a bass player who goes by the name of “Skullfisher.” Corgan seems to be staging a low profile return; Zwan will play small venues in Los Angeles and San Diego later this month, the concert hotwire site, Pollstar, reports.

Courtney Love: Unplugged in the restroom

Courtney Love must really want to get back into the music business. The rocker was forced to finish her set early at her Oct. 26 opening gig for Jane’s Addiction because of a strict Hollywood Bowl house curfew established under local noise ordinances, Tas Steiner, Love’s publicist, told Reuters on Monday. The gig was arranged to give the unnamed label executive a chance to hear Love, who was backed by a new band, play songs the audience never got to see her perform. “Courtney was disappointed,” Steiner said. “She only got to do two of the four new songs that she was planning on singing. She ended up taking an acoustic guitar with her band into a restroom offstage and singing a few songs for a major label president.” Love has added those four songs to a demo tape that she’s been shopping to record labels while she presses on with her lawsuit against Universal Music Group to end her current recording contract.

Stone Temple Pilots record single for charity

The Stone Temple Pilots have recorded a studio version of the Beatles’ “Revolution” and will donate proceeds from the single’s Nov. 27 release to the Twin Towers Fund, which provides relief to families affected by the Sept. 11 attacks, the band’s official Web site reports. The group first performed the track at TNT’s John Lennon Tribute on Oct. 2.

Red Hot Chili Peppers, AC/DC, NIN to release live DVDs

The Red Hot Chili Peppers will release a 70-minute concert DVD/ VHS titled Off the Map on Dec. 4. According to a Warner Brothers press release, the show will feature 18 songs captured in Portland, Ore., in September 2000, featuring the hit singles “Californication,” “Under the Bridge” and “Give It Away.”

Also on Oct.4, AC/DC will release their Stiff Upper Lip Live (VHS/DVD), capturing a recent 21-song concert and including an extra 140 minutes of special features, Billboard.com reports.

Nine Inch Nails has postponed the scheduled Dec. 4 release of their Nine Inch Nails Live: And All That Could Have Been release on CD, DVD and VHS until Jan. 22 of next year. Vocalist Trent Reznor told Launch.com that the delay was due to production snags in the DVD mastering process. “We edited the film, mini-DV ourselves and learned how to mix in sound and set the studio up in surround. I think it has a home-made quality to it that’s interesting that we wouldn’t have gotten if we went to a film company just to do it,” he said. The collection was filmed on NIN’s last tour, Fragility v2.0 and features songs like “The Wretched,” “Head Like a Hole” and “Closer.”

Rolling Stone’s frontman Mick Jagger is set to release “God Gave Me Everything,” a song he co-wrote and produced with funky rocker Lenny Kravitz. The song is the first single from Jagger’s fourth solo album Goddess in the Doorway, scheduled for a Nov. 20 release. Jagger is currently filming the video for the single with director Mark Romanek, who’s worked with the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson).

”These are all very personal songs…true to my original vision,” Jagger told Sonicnet.com. “This is an intimate collection of songs that I could sing to you across the kitchen table.” Jagger’s new album will also feature appearances by Bono, Wyclef Jean, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas, The Who’s Pete Townshend and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry.

Bob Dylan writes autobiography

Storyteller extraordinaire Bob Dylan is writing his own story these days. Chronicles, a multi-volume autobiography, will be printed by Simon & Schuster next year. The singer has previously released a book of lyrics as well as Tarantula, a collection of poems he wrote while touring in the ’60s. Although it is not known how many volumes Chronicles will ultimately consist of, Adam Rothberg, a spokesperson for the publishing company, said that it would cover Dylan’s life and career. “You’ll have to read the rest of it to find out,” he said.

Robbie Williams moons Singapore

British pop star Robbie Williams told 17,000 fans in Bankok on Wednesday that he was fined $5,700 for flashing the audience during his concert last weekend. But Singapore police told Reuters they have no record that it ever happened. In his new book Someday Someday, Williams talks about his self-destructive battle with sex, drugs and his struggle with fame.

Bon Jovi, Carey make “McBeal” appearance

Singer and part-time actor Bon Jovi has postponed his scheduled guest appearance on Ally McBeal to play some benefit shows to raise money for the Sept. 11 attacks on America. According to a statement by FOX, he will begin shooting nine episodes of the series in November, which should air January 2002. Although not much has been revealed about his role, some insiders are speculating that his character may be a possible love interest for the nettlesome secretary Elaine Vassal, played by Jane Krakowski.

Mariah Carey has also booked a guest appearance on the show, where she will play a key figure in a lawsuit brought by Jami Gertz’s character Kimmy Bishop after she is deemed unmatchable by a matchmaking service and given a refund. Carey also will sing “Lead the Way” from her new album, Glitter.

Timberlake not promoting novel

Justin Timberlake published his first novel, Inside Drive: A Novel of Basketball, Life and Love this fall, but the ‘N Sync heartthrob has reportedly canceled the promotional tour because he was too busy with ‘N Sync projects. “He had too much going on to be able to give it the kind of time that he wanted to,” his publicist Lisa Kasteler told AP on Thursday.

Britney invades your living room

The boys who lose their breath every time Britney Spears shows her midriff will be able to watch her whenever they please when Britney: The Videos is released on DVD and VHS on Nov. 20. The home video will include entire videography, behind-the-scenes footage and her latest performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. A Jive Records spokesperson has confirmed with Sonicnet.com that the video will include her Pepsi commercials as well as a sneak peek at her upcoming motion picture debut, Crossroads, scheduled to hit theatres on Feb.15.

R.E.M. makes surprise show

R.E.M. played a surprise show on Oct. 23 at Seattle’s Crocodile Cafe, which guitarist Peter Buck co-owns with his wife Stephanie Dorgan, Billboard.com reported. Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder joined in for several songs during the show, which benefited the Washington Wilderness Coalition.

Musicians strike back

As Americans try to get their life back together after the tragic Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, musicians also are re-working their music, performing tribute concerts, and donating money to help aid relief efforts.

John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, published a full-page add in The New York Times on Sunday with the simple message: “Imagine all the people living life in peace,” in the wake of the attacks.

The eight-word quotation from Lennon’s “Imagine” was unaccompanied by any photos or text because Ono felt “it would be more effective if her name wasn’t on it,” her spokesman told The Associated Press.

Ono also plans to feature a billboard in Times Square with the lyric “Give peace a chance.”

Celine Dion will headline a five-hour show Friday in Montreal with about 200 Quebec artists, including members of the famed Cirque du Soleil, Reuters reports. Proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross to help families of the nearly 7,000 people killed or missing in the attacks.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney, will perform a concert in New York City to benefit the city’s firefighters in the next month.

“I also have a connection here, because my father was a fireman in Liverpool during World War II,” McCartneytold New York’s WPLJ radio station on Sept. 21. According to Rolling Stone magazine, McCartney is currently looking into New York City venues to host the event.

Members of The Dave Matthews Band have changed their mind about releasing “When the World Ends” as the band’s next radio single, feeling it would be insensitive given people’s fears after the hijackings, the band’s publicist told SonicNet.com on Tuesday. Instead, the group will ask programmers to play the title track for their latest album, Everyday.

Alanis Morissette has released “Utopia,” a song that the Canadian singer describes as it being “shared in the spirit of wanting to offer comfort to everyone who is grieving, with my experiencing my own grief alongside them,” she writes in an online post on her official Web site. According to Launch.com, the song can currently be heard on her official site.

HOLLYWOOD - With plans to record a fundraising song titled “What More Can I Give?” Michael Jackson has lined up support from today’s hottest acts to aid survivors and families of victims of the recent terrorist attacks the United States suffered earlier this month.

The question is: Could Jackson recreate the success of his 1985 tribute tune “We Are the World”? Our answer: Definitely.

With support from Destiny’s Child, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake of ’N Sync and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, Jackson is currently recording “What More Can I Give?” with the goal of raising $50 million for relief efforts, Jackson’s spokesman, Howard Rubenstein, told ABCNews.com on Monday.

According to SonicNet.com, a Spanish-language version of the song is also in the works.

On Thursday, however, a spokeswoman for Jive Records told Hollywood.com that neither Spears norTimberlake had confirmed their involvement in the upcoming Michael Jackson project.

“I believe in my heart that the music community will come together as one and rally to the aid of thousands of innocent victims,” Jackson said on a press release. “There is a tremendous need for relief dollars right now and through this effort, each one of us can play an immediate role in helping comfort so many people.”

Who would know better than to come up with a project like this than Jackson, who in 1985 co-wrote the tune “We Are the World” with Lionel Richie, a song that would raise $65 million for USA for Africa, a fund that helps victims of starvation in Africa.

The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 on March 23, 1985 at No. 21 and won a Grammy for Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

While some may think that Jackson’s effort to record a new song is only intended to increase interest in his comeback efforts, the King of Pop has always been involved in charitable organizations.

In October 1998, tenor Luciano Pavarotti and Jackson’s close friend Elizabeth Taylor joined the superstar in a series of concerts Jackson organized and headlined to benefit the World Peace Foundation for Children (WPFC), in hopes of providing aid to needy children and families around the world.

In Jackson’s opinion, music is capable of touching people’s souls, and it’s “time we use that power to help us begin the process of healing immediately,” he told ABCNews.com.

Jackson is not alone. Other musicians are doing their part to pay tribute to the victims by donating to different relief funds.
