Rock of Love Roadie involved in deadly crash

It’s a sad day for Rock of Love contestants and show crew.

A truck driver hauling a load of sound equipment for VH1′s “Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels” caused a crash that killed two people and seriously injured two more.

According to the Illinois State Police, the driver fell asleep at the wheel on Friday while on Interstate 57 in West Frankfort, Ill. His truck crossed the median and struck two vehicles killing two passengers.

VH1 has issued a press release that states that the crew member is not an associate of Bret Michaels or part of his tour staff and that he was traveling alone to the next location stop for the series.

Bret Michaels, 51, has requested that his participation in the production of the series be temporarily suspended in deepest sympathy as he attempts to reach out to the families of the victims.  Traveling separately, Mr. Michaels had left Illinois early Friday morning and was not near the scene of the accident.

“As a father of two, I cannot even imagine what the families must be going through at this time.  I will make every attempt to reach out to them to let them know that my heart and prayers are with them during their time of grief,” said Michaels in a statement.
