I went to see Wild Child at the Whiskey. I had been waiting for a while since I kept hearing buzz around West Hollywood how they were one of the best The Doors cover bands. I was convinced when I read on Ray Manzarek’s web site that he was in awe when he saw this band performing.
So I enter the Whiskey after the band was onstage and it only took me a second to look at the lead singer onstage and imagine what it would have been like to see the actual band perform on that very same stage. The singer sounded very similar to Jim Morrison to the point where it was almost eerie, and he obviously dressed the part. The rest of the band members did a great job playing the better known Doors song.
The one thing that I enjoyed, is that they were not all trying to dress like the band, and do the same moves as the band, and pretty much be a direct immitation. Other than the lead singer attempting to dress similar (not identical) to Morrison, the rest of the band were just regular musicians who seemed to enjoy to play music on a venue together, any day of the week.
As long as they were having fun, paying respects, it seems that the audience was reminiscing right along with them.
still playing and from far away the singer sounded very similar to Jim and had his same maneurisms. I was hooked already. They said they’ll play there again on Oct 30th so I am planning to see them again.

Sounds like a pretty cool band.
